Living in the future

The month of May has surprisingly flew by faster than any other month this year. Is it just me that feels that way? Or are there other people who are experiencing the same phenomenon?

It can be both good and bad that the days of May are quickly being crossed off on my calendar. It’s a good thing because I’m getting closer to graduating! However, it’s bad because of all the finals I have to take. Ugh. So much work that has to be done in so little time.

When I’m making study guides or just swamped in homework, I try to visualize me in the future. Me at my highschool graduation, at YVC graduation, and also at my graduation party. It’s a great motivation honestly.

At my graduation party all my family will be there AND my parents will have a lemonade stand there with popcorn(they really do love me). I can’t wait to dress up, socialize, and have tons of fun! Most of all I can’t wait to not have to check my canvas app for upcoming assignments.

Summer is my motivation. Imagine sleeping in, no homework, binge watching Netflix shows/movies, going to the park because you have time to do so, hanging out with friends, or taking vacations!

I think of all of this whenever I’m procrastinating or just simply acting lazy. It’ll all be worth it in the end. I can’t wait.

The new pizza is the best pizza

Ever since MOD pizza came out, I’ve been obsessed. This might sound crazy I know but guess what? I’ve never been a big fan of pizza. I used to never understand the craze over Domino’s or Pizza hut. I honestly thought it was overhyped. However, NOW that’s a totally different story. Ever since Yakima introduced 2 MOD pizzas, I’ve been trying to go as much as I can. I just can’t get enough what else can I say! For a regular sized pizza (for 1 person) it’s only $7.50. Think about that, that’s super cheap. To top that off, you can add whatever you want. Think of it like Subway but for pizza. In other pizza restaurants you either have to choose a pizza from their menu or add your own toppings for more money. Why would you want to do that when you could make your very own individual pizza that acquires to your taste AND it’s cheap. The atmosphere there is incredible too. The employees and the other customers are always so nice. It’s a good place to eat with your friends or with your significant other. If you’re like me however, it’s a good place to eat everyday.

If you’re wondering what I order every time I go, I get a regular MOD pizza with alfredo sauce, garlic rub, mozzarella cheese, chicken, spinach, feta cheese, mushrooms, broccoli, sriracha sauce, and pesto sauce. For a drink I get their signature “vintage” lemonade. Duh.MOD pizza ic for blog

The Standoff

In my last post, I talked about how I visited a Pho restaurant, Pho Central, in Ellensburg. Now I will talk about about another Pho restaurant that I recently discovered in Yakima. In Union Gap by Applebees, there’s a restaturant named Pho King Crab. Since I drive around Yakima a lot, it has come to my attetnion that this resturant may be the only one that serves or specializes in Pho.

Out of curiosity I decided to go and order some to see if it could beat Pho Central. When I went there for the first time I ordered a chicken Pho (same flavor I got in Pho Central). Don’t get me wrong, this pho was good! However, the restaurant’s signature homemade broth had that certain sweetness to it. Even though I’m not very fond of the sweet tanginess it had it was still good. The chicken was well cooked and the toppings that came along with the Pho (basil, bean sprouts, and jalapenos) added more texture and flavor to the broth making me forget about the sweetness. Surprisingly, I came back again the next day! My mother wanted to try it out for herself. Tpho king crab beef phohis time instead of chicken, I ordered beef. Most traditional Pho is eaten with beef and tenderloin. When I received my meal, my first sip was amazing. The beef really punched out the sweetness of the broth and made it more savory. This in turn made me to think that the beef pho at Pho King Crab outdid the other Pho restaurant in Ellensburg. (the picture is a photo of the beef Pho at Pho King Crab)

Pho, the most delicious soup

Recently I visited a restaurant called “Pho Central” in Ellensburg, Washington. Let me tell you. It was the best Pho I’ve tasted in a while! Compared to the Pho I’ve tried in Seattle, it was way better. The restaurant consists of 2 cooks who also serve as the waiters. The cooks are extremely nice and the service was quick and easy. As soon as you walk in they take your order and prepare it within a matter of minutes. Not only are you their top priority but the food is pretty darn good! Most traditional Pho broths have a sweetness to it, which I’m not too into (I’m more of a salty than a sweet person). However, the Pho broth from this restaurant is just the right amount of salty I like! On top of ordering Pho, I also ordered dumplings and chicken fried rice. The rice there was the best. It had a pinch of soy and teriyaki sauce making the rice burst with flavor. Overallpho, I recommend this restaurant for those who enjoy Pho because it is the best there.

About me

Daisy Gonzalez currently resides in Yakima, WA with her parents, siblings, cousin, and 7 dogs. She attends YVCC to finish her Associates degree and her high school diploma through the Running Start program. She is currently a senior at West Valley high school and will graduate this year! When not in school or at the library studying, you might find her in her room watching just about every single movie in the world. Her hobbies include looking after her spoiled siblings, playing with her many dogs, going to the theater, and eating TONS of dumplings! Daisy isn’t picky with what she eats, she’ll eat just about anything! Except tuna sandwiches. Tuna is evil. Even though she has purple hair, she’s obsessed with the color green. If it isn’t green, it isn’t right. Daisy hopes to one day be behind the camera for new hit movies or figuring out “Who dunnit?” in crime scene investigations.
